Latent Print Development using Cyanoacrylate Ester Method

This series of Hard Evidence™ cyanoacrylate (super-glue) fuming products were first introduced in the mid -1980s and since that time have assisted investigators around the world in the development of latent prints on nonporous surfaces such as plastics, metal, glass, and both finished and unfinished wood.

Cyanoacrylate fumes react with the residue in latent prints and produces a white visible print which can be processed with powder and photographed.

Hard Evidence™ Fuming Pouches

These fingerprint developing pouches are an easy to use one-part fuming system. Each peel-open pouch contains cyanoacrylate in a gel form which will not spill, leak or flow from the opened pouch.

To use Hard Evidence™ Fuming Pouches, simply place the item to be fumed for prints in a fuming chamber, fish aquarium, or large clear plastic bag along with a small container of warm water to increase humidity. Peel open a fuming pouch and place the pouch in with the item. Fuming and print development starts immediately and usually takes 20-30 minutes to thoroughly develop prints.

Liquid Hard Evidence™ Latent Print Developer

Liquid Hard Evidence™ Latent Print Developer works essentially the same way the pouch design does, however, in order to accelerate the generation of cyanoacrylate fumes, a hot plate is frequently used.

Simply pour the appropriate amount of liquid Hard Evidence™ into a small aluminum tray and place the tray on an electric hot plate.
